For several years, Trenitalia has embarked on an important journey to integrate the principles of Sustainability into its business strategies and procurement processes, adopting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 8 "Decent Work and Economic Growth" and Goal 12 "Ensure Sustainable Production and Consumption Patterns." In this context, the safety of railway operations, the quality of services provided, environmental protection, the safeguarding of workers' health and safety, and energy efficiency are all fundamental and strategic elements for the development of Trenitalia's business.
Trenitalia integrates the concept of sustainability—while complying with current European and national regulations—into all stages of its procurement process for goods, services, and works, with the aim of stimulating and improving the sustainability performance and profile of our entire supply chain and delivering services with the least possible environmental and social impact throughout their lifecycle.
To this end, among other aspects, Trenitalia values business management models focused on the enhancement and protection of employees, models that promote the optimization of internal processes, and environmental management models aimed at cost reduction and resource savings, referencing recognized international standards.
In addition to the above, Trenitalia requires each of its suppliers to sign a
committing to uphold values and principles of Sustainability.
